2018 Local Election Speculation Begins!

At last week's Williams Lake and District Chamber of Commerce meeting - Williams Lake Mayor Walt Cobb, during his annual report to the Chamber, kicked off the local election speculation for the 2018 Local Elections by stating "if I'm given the privilege of being re-elected", in relation to his clearest signal that he does plan to seek re-election next October.

He also suggested that two of the six Williams Lake City Councillors' will not seek re-election, but he did not say which two (Bonnell, Nelson, Ryll, Smith, Walters or Zacharias).

He also suggested, jokingly, that Paul French (former Williams Lake City Councillor) might seek a seat on Williams Lake City Council in next year's civic elections

There are also mandatory local elections on October 20th, 2018 for the 12 Electoral Area Directors' seats on the Cariboo Regional District Board, the 7 Trustee seats, both on the Boards of Education for School Districts #27/28 (Cariboo-Chilcotin/Quesnel) plus elections in the City of Quesnel and the Districts of 100 Mile House and Wells

It is fair to suggest that all local politicians are considering, either right now or over the next number of months, whether to commit to another 4 year term and if not, deciding the timing of when to make that appropriate announcement but certainly a look provincially, local politicians like Port Coquitlam Mayor Greg Moore, Maple Ridge Mayor Nicole Read, Vancouver City Councillor George Affleck and District of Hope Councillor Gerry Dyble have already announced that they will not seek re-election next October and I am certain there will be many more announcements in the months to come (seek or not seek re-election)

Stay tuned as they say....

4 more years of Cobb! Is that a trial balloon? We have had enough of his lies, machinations and manipulations. He is YESTERDAYS MAN.. Perhaps Steve Forseth should consider running for Mayor of Williams Lake.
