Cariboo-Chilcotin Fire Update -- Aug 10th pm

Good smoky afternoon:

Since the last report  - the Cariboo Regional District issued 1 Evacuation Order
For the current list of CRD Evacuation Alerts/Orders, click here

For the current Evacuation Alert for the City of Williams Lake - click here.

The Districts' of Wells/100 Mile House and the City of Quesnel currently do not have their Emergency Operations Centre activated nor do they have an active Evacuation Alert or Order

Up-to-date information of the Wildfires of Note in the Cariboo Fire Centre, including all fires within the Cariboo Regional District, can be viewed here

If your CRD Electoral Area is partially under an Evacuation Order (Areas B, D, F, I, J, K and L) - you can call the CRD Emergency Ops Centre (EOC) Public Info Line for questions/clarifications at 1-866-759-4977 or use the online map at https://cariboo.maps.arcgis.com/apps/View/index.html?appid=ee2b98baf5544f028aed537461762081

A reminder that off-road vehicle use is currently BANNED in the Cariboo, Kamloops and Southeast Fire Centres.  More details here.  An Fire Area Restriction warning for ALL Crown Land was issued today by the Cariboo Fire Centre.  IF it is authorized, it will go into effect on Friday at noon.  That would be NO access of Crown Land WITHOUT prior written authorization

Williams Lake Mayor Walt Cobb's message to his community yesterday was:

Today was a pretty good day. Quite smokey but cleared up tonight. I am told if it had not been Smokey it would have been over 40. HOT. Every day is looking better and the fires at least around the city have been quiet. The weather a you have no doubt heard is unpredictable and every day we hope for better but get the same old same old. No one here has any control over the weather but think your prayers may be helping.
Looking at the news the smoke conditions are worse in some areas than they are here so there is something to be thankful for.
It looks like we can rest safely tonight so take advantage and hope for the best tomorrow. One day at a time. Pacients is not one of my better virtues but am learning.
Have a good night.

Finally - friendly reminder to continue to rely ONLY on official sources for Evacuation Alerts or Orders from your local government website or Facebook page or through the local media - Tribune (click here) or Vista Radio (click here).
