BC NDP to select MLA candidate for Cariboo-Chilcotin - Jan 15th

Back on December 11th, 2016 - the BC NDP's Cariboo Chilcotin Constituency Association announced, on Twitter/Facebook, that a "Candidate Selection Meeting" would be held on Sunday, January 15th, 2017 in Williams Lake

As of this writing, I am aware of one person seeking the BC NDP nomination in Cariboo-Chilcotin and that is current Thompson Nicola RD Area 'E' Director Sally Watson.  I am not aware of any others seeking the candidacy to run for the BC NDP in Cariboo-Chilcotin

I think we can expect that Cariboo-North BC NDP members in the next 2-3 months will be selecting their candidate.  Rumours are that current Quesnel City Councillor Scott Elliot is interested in running for the BC NDP in Cariboo-North for the 41st BC General Election to be held on May 9th, 2017

Meanwhile, the BC Greens have already selected their Cariboo-Chilcotin candidate in Rita Giesbrecht while the BC Greens have yet to select their Cariboo-North candidate while it appears that the BC Conservatives are out for the 2017 BC Election, there is no information, as of this writing, to suggest that independents or other parties will be attempting to run in Cariboo-North/Cariboo-Chilcotin in respect of the 2017 BC Election. Finally - the BC Liberals have selected their MLA candidates in Cariboo-Chilcotin/Cariboo-North: current Cariboo-North MLA Coralee Oakes and current Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Hon. Donna Barnett

If the MLA candidates in Cariboo-Chilcotin stand for the May election by April 2017, it will be the first time, that I can recall, that all of the Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA candidates primarily reside in the South Cariboo.  Of the candidates in Cariboo-Chilcotin, Donna Barnett has the most knowledge of issues affecting both Williams Lake and 100 Mile House regions... and thus should give her a leg up on her opponents in her re-election bid

Finally - outgoing BC Liberal Kamloops-North Thompson MLA/current BC Health Minister Hon. Dr. Terry Lake has weighed on what he thinks the theme of the 41st BC General Election will be and in one word: "change" - read more here
