The Management Agreement between the City of Quesnel and the Chamber of Commerce has been renewed. The Chamber of Commerce has successfully managed the Visitor Centre for a number of years and this renewed five year agreement will expire in 2021.
The agreement is based on a 0.75% reduction in the management fee for 2017 compared to 2016 with an inflationary increase of 2% built into each additional year of the agreement. The Chamber of Commerce worked with the City to reduce the overall budget by $10,000 in 2016.
An additional clause added to the new agreement was the City’s Living Wage policy. This Agreement requires the Chamber of Commerce to follow the City’s Living Wage Policy. The Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Centre employees (excluding students) must earn the current living wage hourly rate of $16.52/hour. This rate is calculated including benefits.
“Council approved this agreement with confidence as the Chamber of Commerce has always provided great management to the Visitor Centre,” said Quesnel Mayor Bob Simpson. “The Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Centre provide exceptional service to residents and to visitors.”

The Quesnel Visitor Centre is located at 703 Carson Avenue, beside Quesnel Museum, and responds to approximately 20,000 inquiries per year. Hours of operation are 9am-6pm, 7 days a week during the summer season, and 9am-4pm Tuesday to Saturday from Labour Day to Victoria Day.
