New Additions to the Permanent Collection

Courtesy of the City of Quesnel:

Six new art pieces have recently been added to the permanent art collection in the Artrium at the Quesnel & District Arts and Recreation Centre

Five of the six pieces are pastel paintings by Roberta Combs, a master status pastellist from Pitt Meadows, BC, who taught a Quesnel workshop through the Leisure Services Art Program department. The artist uses vibrant color, extreme lighting, and dramatic composition to portray her realistic subject matter. The pastel paintings are titled: Lost in Wisteria, Red, White and Blue, Twilight, Garden Ornament and Age of Innocence.

The sixth addition to the permanent collection is a multi-media piece by the late Antoinette Ros, entitled The Way We Were. The artist used mixed media and different materials throughout her exploration in art. Antoinette Ros was a teacher in the Quesnel School District for many years and belonged to the Thursday Painters group. This group meets every Thursday in the Artrium for drop in painting, and shows their work in the Quesnel Art Gallery also located in the Artrium.

An in memoriam will be held for Antoinette Ros in the Artrium in the Quesnel & District Arts & Recreation Centre, 500 North Star Road, June 11, 2015 at 7 p.m. A collection of the artist’s work will be on display and attendees will be welcome to speak and share stories of Antoinette. This event is free and open to the public. View the new additions to the Artrium’s permanent collection and celebrate the work and life of Antoinette Ros.
