In shocking news from Kamloops - former Kamloops Mayor and publisher of the "Armchair Mayor" blog, Mel Rothenburger, has announced today that he will mount a bid to become the next Thompson-Nicola Regional District Director for Electoral Area 'P' (Rivers and the Peaks).
The current TNRD Area P Director, John Sternig, has not as of this writing indicated to Kamloops media if he plans to seek re-election or retire in November's civic elections

Mr. Rothenburger has previously served as a TNRD Director when he was last Mayor of Kamloops from 1999-2005 and in March of 2005, he stated that he would not seek re-election as Mayor of Kamloops for that year's civic election.
