Mayor Cook pleads for help - Bus Shelter Vandalism

From City of Williams Lake FB Page:

Do you have information about bus shelter vandalism?

The City of Williams Lake and the Williams Lake RCMP are asking for the public’s assistance in indentifying the person or persons responsible for the vandalism of city bus shelters.

Since Sept. 22, the glass in 15 City-owned and maintained bus shelters have been shattered, creating a safety hazard and rendering the shelters useless to those who use them. The City has spent over $15,000 on repairs to the shelters.

“I urge anyone with information that may help apprehend the perpetrator or perpetrators of this senseless destruction of public property to provide it,” says Williams Lake Mayor Kerry Cook. “This criminal behavior is placing a totally unnecessary burden on City taxpayers.”

“The RCMP work closely with the residents of Williams Lake and in this case we are asking for assistance in solving this mindless type of crime,” says RCMP Inspector Warren Brown. “The community is the eyes and ears for the RCMP and we are sincerely hoping for their assistance.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477. All calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous.
