Wow, what a unique school name (Lake City Secondary). goes right along with:
Lake City Glass
Lake City Auto
Lake City Equipment
Lake City Ford
Lake City Collision
Lake City Appliance Repairs
Lake City Baptist Church
Lake City Auto Mall
Lake City Excavating
Lake City Camera
Lake City Masonry
Lake City Technical Products
And those are just the local names. There are hundred's of "Lake City" regional names and hundreds more "Lake City" provincial names.
It is really too bad that the Board of Education for School District 27 did not seize the opportunity to name or rename the new schools something that would represent Williams Lake, the Cariboo and the Chilcotin. What a major loss of opportunity. Columneetza was a great name and there were many more excellent names put forward but the board chose to "add" it's own choice to the mix and then of course select it. What happened to the online request for names? Was it simply an exersize to appease the public?
The only saving grace was that the Board did not go to a "Branding " company on Vancouver Island and pay $45,000 for a totally generic and unimaginative name.
