West Fraser VFD & BC Hydro share Joint Project

Courtesy of the Cariboo Regional District:

The Cariboo Regional District’s West Fraser Volunteer Fire Department has received a $5000 donation from BC Hydro to help increase safety through zero energy street lighting at the intersection of West Fraser and Jackpine Flats Roads.

BC Hydro is donating $5,000 toward the purchase and installation of an LED solar-powered street light through their Corporate Donations Program. This lighting system will be the first of its kind within the Cariboo Regional District and will be installed during the spring of 2013.

West Fraser Fire Chief Phil Megyesi adds “Everyone who travels this stretch of road will benefit with improved visibility.”

This new lighting system will increase public safety at the intersection adjacent to the fire hall, in particular whenever firefighters and fire apparatus are responding to emergencies.

“BC Hydro welcomes applications to our donations program from across the province to assist projects that align with our goals of environmental sustainability, youth and lifestyle and community leadership” says BC Hydro Community Relations Coordinator, Dave Mosure.
