Tuesday''s WL Rural Fringe Mtg

This past Tuesday - about 100 people (according to the WL Tribune) came to the Gibraltar Room to hear the results of the recently completed survey regarding next steps forward to resolve the dispute between the City of WL/CRD Rural Fringe Fire Protection dispute.  You can review the results for yourself here

Wade Fisher, a resident from CRD Area 'E', stating that he would like to see Wildwood/150 Mile VFD's to expand their boundaries to the legal limits (13 kms) and build a satellite hall to cover the rest of the unprotected areas.  His opinion would be in the minority as the majority (60% of those surveyed) say they want the City to honour its' 1st offer to CRD residents

Another resident asked why the City wasn't in attendance to answer questions from rural residents and Janis Bell - CAO of the Cariboo Regional District said that it wasn't appropriate as the intent of Tuesday's meeting was to report out on the survey results and to discuss next steps.  In addition, the City of WL and the CRD were presently locked in a court battle.

The Tribune reported that WL City Staff were in attendance but did not return calls to the Tribune for comment prior to the Tribune's press deadline
