2nd Mountview Water/Sewer Grant denied

In not an entire surprise -- the CRD (Cariboo Regional District) Board was informed Friday that their 2nd grant application to Ottawa for Mountview Water/Sewer was denied.  As of this writing, no reason is known for the 2nd rejection, although it wouldn't surprise me if the reason was "oversubscription" of the fund that the Cariboo RD applied to

By way of background - this is an item that CRD Area 'E' Director Byron Kemp (2000-2005 + 2011-14) and former CRD Area 'E' Director Brandy Dickey (2005-2008) had been working on, given the challenges for water/sewer services for the Mountview community and concerns expressed by Interior Health that water quality was an issue for them for this community

Next steps for Director Kemp could include re-approaching the City of Williams Lake to see if there is an appetite still to have a partnership with the City to provide water/sewer services for willing/eligible Mountview residents' or the Cariboo RD could look at moving forward on a local community water/sewer system for Mountview residents' itself.  The last estimate I heard (in 2010) is that it could be up to $15 million for a community water/sewer system for Mountview residents' and that would translate into high costs to finance such a project on the number of property owners in the Mountview area....
