End of Week News - April 6th edition

In Quesnel:

* As readers' are asking - At the Monday, April 2nd meeting of Quesnel Council  - Quesnel Council authorized Mayor Sjostrom to travel to Longyan City in the Fujian Province of China to explore the idea of a Sister City arrangement.  All of Mayor Sjostrom's costs are being covered by outside sources.  This means this trip cost Quesnel taxpayers' very little money, except for airfare to Vancouver.  See the full Itinerary here.  I'm informed that there is a possibility that the Quesnel Chamber of Commerce, the local Economic Development body and even School District #28 may join Mayor Sjostrom but no final decision have been made by those different bodies, at this time

Given the successful "Sister City" arrangement with Shiraoi, Japan for a number of years now - I congratulate Mayor Sjostrom for looking into a Sister City arrangement with Longyan City, China and look forward to Mayor Sjostrom's report upon her return.  The trip is from May 7th - 16th
