2012 NCLGA Resolutions Now Available...

Earlier today, the NCLGA (North Central Local Gov't Association) released both the Agenda for its' May AGM and the Resolutions to be debated at the AGM.  View the Agenda here and the full list of Resolutions here

Of the local gov'ts in the area (5) - they submitted  8 of 38 Resolutions to be considered and voted on by the NCLGA Delegates at the May NCLGA AGM

Of those 8 Resolutions -- only two (2) received a "Endorse" Recommendation from the NCLGA Executive Committee.  Those two Resolutions are:

a) City of Williams Lake  - Infrastructure Funding Criteria
b) Cariboo Regional District - Time alloted for consideration of UBCM Resolutions

Finally -  the City of Prince Rupert has submitted the following NCLGA Resolution:

WHEREAS the British Columbia provincial government intends to create an Auditor General for Local Government (AGLG) via Bill 20;

AND WHEREAS the AGLG has been created as a result of sustained lobbying efforts of the Canadian Federation of Independent Business;

AND WHEREAS the Union of British Columbia Municipalities did not call upon the provincial government to create the position of the Auditor General for Local Government:

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the North Central Local Government Association state that we (NCLGA) do not support Bill 20 and the creation of an Auditor General for Local Government.

NCLGA Executive Recommendation: No Recommendation

Given Bill 20 is now law and has been given Royal Assent on March 29th -- if the above Resolution passes both NCLGA/UBCM - watch for the Province to thumb its' nose at it, given there is no intention, at this time, by Victoria to heed the words of this Resolution
