Sand sealing starts today

The City will begin sand sealing a number of streets paved as part of last year’s paving program.

Beginning this afternoon, sand sealing will be done on the centre line on the following streets:

Oliver Street – 8th Avenue to Mackenzie Avenue 
Toop Road – Centennial Drive to Highway 97 11th Avenue North 
Smedley Street to Highway 97 2nd Avenue South 
Oliver Street to Mackenzie Avenue 
3rd Avenue South – Barnard Street to Mackenzie Avenue 
A short section of Soda Creek Road near the West Fraser Lumber Yard

In addition sealing of the entire pavement surface will be done on the following streets, which were paved last year: Comer Street from Mackenzie Avenue to 3rd Avenue 3rd Avenue between Proctor Street and Cameron Street Western Avenue from Levens Street to Midnight Drive

Sand sealing is a process where an emulsion-based product is applied to the pavement in order to strengthen and protect it. Motorists are advised that during the period of work, expected to last through Sunday, traffic flow in these areas will be reduced to single-alternating lanes.
