Taseko Mines are reporting a plunge in first quarter profits.
They report lower revenue and the absence of a joint venture gain are to blame.
The Vancouver based copper mine company reported net earnings of $5.75 million, a drop from the $7.5 million dollars earned in last year’s first quarter.
Meanwhile Taseko are also reporting a 17% decline in production at its Gibraltar mine. They blame the decrease on poor winter conditions in January and February and an unscheduled four day shutdown for maintenance.
Taseko also say they expect an environmental assessment review process to commence on their recently re-submitted Prosperity Mine proposal by this September.
