Donna Barnett: Bring On a Provincial Election

Yesterday, Greg Fry of the Rush asked Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett about a possible fall provincial election and if she was worried about the BC Conservatives spoiling the election for the BC Liberals, if a fall election should be called by BC Premier (and BC Liberal Leader) Christy Clark:

On Question #1 - MLA Barnett confirmed that she plans to run for re-election under the BC Liberal Party flag

On Question #2 - MLA Barnett stated that she wasn't too worried about the BC Conservatives as she feels that John Cummins has put his "foot in his mouth" on a number of issues including the HST (Vote for it in Ottawa, then come home to oppose it), Native Treaties and gay/lesbian rights

It'll be interesting to see if the BC Conservatives have enough time to establish a Riding Association locally prior to a possible fall vote or will the BC Conservatives instead will run a strategic campaign where they focus on best places to run MLA Candidates and push to get John Cummins, as BC Conservative Leader, into the BC Legislature

We know locally that the BC NDP will put up, once again, Charlie Wyse, against Donna Barnett but, at the end of the day, will the BC Conservatives put up a candidate against MLA Barnett.  Time will tell but with other upstart parties like BC First, will BC First ruin BC Conservatives chances' to win seats in rural BC - stay tuned!!
