CRD launches commemorate"Forest Capital" magazine

To commemorate its final year as the Forest Capital of Canada, the Cariboo Regional District has published Our Backyard – Forests of the Cariboo Chilcotin. This commemorative magazine features articles, photography, historical pieces, poetry, artwork and more contributed by residents throughout the Cariboo Chilcotin.

The magazine explores topics such as industry and diversification, our forestry history, building with wood, agriculture, tourism and mountain biking, the BC woodlot and community forest programs, and much more to illustrate the various uses of our forests for work, live and play.

The publication is geared towards people who want to learn more about the region and its valuable resource – our forests. The magazine highlights how we work, live and play in our forests, making it an ideal read  for people interested in relocation, investing in or travelling to the Cariboo Chilcotin.

“As the Chair of the CRD’s Forest Capital of Canada Committee, I would like to thank our publishing partner, Black Press and Lorne Doerkson, for all their support and hard work on this regional project,” stated Director Steve Mazur. “I would also like to thank all of our advertisers for participating in this program, making this publication possible and available to the public free of charge.”

A total of 10,000 copies will be available, at no cost to residents, at all CRD offices throughout the region.  If your organization would like to receive copies for distribution or to learn more about the Forest Capital of Canada program, please email forestcapital@cariboord.bc.ca  or visit us online at www.cariboord.bc.ca to enjoy the electronic version of the publication.
