WL City Councillor Natalie Hebert to resign June 1st, 2011

From the Rush (local radio) -

Editor's Note - I firmly believe that there will be no by-election and Council will run with 6 members (Mayor + 5 Councillors) until November 19th, 2011 (date of next Williams Lake Civic Election)

A WILLIAMS LAKE CITY COUNCILLOR HAS DECIDED TO RESIGN.

FIRST TERM COUNCILLOR NATALIE HEBERT SAYS SHE DECIDED TO STEP DOWN AFTER BEING OFFERED EMPLOYMENT IN CRANBROOK.

HEBERT SAYS HER RESIGNATION WILL BECOME EFFECTIVE JUNE 1ST.

WHEN ASKED ABOUT THE HIGHLIGHTS OF HER TIME IN OFFICE SHE MENTIONED HER PARTICIPATION WITH UBCM, WORKING ON VARIOUS COMMITTEES AND MEETING AND WORKING WITH THE CITIZENS OF WILLIAMS LAKE.

AS FOR WHETHER OR NOT THERE WILL BE A BYELECTION TO FILL HEBERTS SEAT, WE CONTACTED THE CITY WHO SAID IT WOULD BE PREMATURE TO DISCUSS WHAT’S GOING TO HAPPEN UNTIL HEBERT FORMALLY RESIGNS HER SEAT.

MUNICIPAL ELECTIONS WILL BE HELD IN NOVEMBER
