Interesting WL Council Items on Tuesday...

On Tuesday, WL Council will be busy with a huge amount of items on their plate...

1) Ed Mead (former WL City Councillor: 2005-2008) along with Canadian Tire owner Brian Stefan and Jack Beltgens protesting the negative impact on the community from Pinnacle Pellet on South Lakeside Drivve - it'll be interesting to see what Council does with this item??  Given Pinnacle Pellet has been in the community for a number of years and the community hasn't raised a big concern with their operation.  Note, they (Messrs Mead, Stefan and Beltgens) have sent the same concern to the local Environment Ministry and Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett.  See their petition here.  What's next - Sawmills and the Plywood Plant in Williams Lake.....?

2) Council will ratify Standing Committees for 2011 - for the record, here are the Committees:

1) General Governance - Councillors Barr (Chair), Bourdon and Mayor Cook
2) Planning and Operations - Councillors Zacharias (Chair), Rathor and Barr
3) Community Services - Councillors Rathor (Chair), Walters, and Hébert

3) Taking a page out of Quesnel Council's playbook - Mayor Cook is going to try something called "Council Information Package".  This is an Agenda Item where various news releases sent to City Hall are all wrapped up into one item.  Williams Lake has never had such an item, but the CRD has, they call it "Consent Calendar", CRD has had it pre-2004, when I starting to observe CRD Board Meetings'.  Guess we'll see where this is going...
