WL Council indifferent on Cariboo Lodge site vision....?

At last night's Committee of the Whole Council meeting, the 6 Willams Lake City Councillors' (Mayor Cook was absent as she was sick), approved the Terms of Reference for the new Cariboo Lodge Task Force.  See my blog post on the Terms of Reference here

I think most in the community, including seniors', don't take issue with the Task Force but rather the vision that is contained within the approved Terms of Reference that offends seniors'.  Both former Cariboo-South MLA Charlie Wyse (who's assisting the Housing Committee of the Williams Lake Seniors' Advisory Council) and Audrey MacLise (Chair of the Seniors' Advisory Council) were in attendance at last night's Committee of the Whole as the Terms of Reference were given endorsement by WL Council and I suspect that this will be a topic of conversation at next week's Senior Advisory Council's AGM.

As all decisions at a Committee of the Whole Meeting are "recommendations" to Williams Lake Council, the decision on the Tersm of Reference is not final until all recommendations from a Committee of the Whole have been ratified.  That will occur at the next Williams Lake City Council meeting on Tuesday, October 19th, 2010 at 6:00pm in Williams Lake Council Chambers

Again - this is a decision that will come back, I believe, and haunt the City Councillors' and Mayor Cook next year as they all seek re-election for either Mayor or Councillor (I assume that all will want to seek re-election)

As the Mayor was not present at last night's Committee of the Whole meeting, those who think that Council made the wrong decision on the Terms of Reference for the Cariboo Lodge Task Force can still lobby her before next Tuesday's Council meeting

Mayor Cook's contact info is as follows:

Email - kcook@williamslake or mayor@williamslake.ca
Phone - 250-392-2311 or 250-398-7213
