Standing Committee on Legislative Initiatives & HST - Possible Political Repercussions....?

Yesterday, the BC Legislature's Standing Committee on Legislative Initiatives met and I must say I was embarrassed on how the Chair (MLA Terry Lake from Kamloops-North Thompson) called not 1, but 2 recesses to confirm committee procedure on a motion and then an amendment from the Committee's Deputy Chair Jenny Kwan (Vancouver-Mount Pleasant).  And this from a man who was a Kamloops City Councillor & Mayor.....?  This is my worst fear realized - an inexperienced Legislative Committee Chair.  I said so in private and now I publicly say that Terry Lake should have been replaced with John Les who has experience chairing the Legislature's Standing Committee on Finance & Government Services, especially when that Committee (Finance & Gov't Services) meets with the public

Anyhow, both the Vancouver Sun & Province covered yesterday's Committee meeting.  See here (Sun) and here (Province)

But Vernon-Monashee MLA Eric Foster first put a motion to postpone further debate on Jenny Kwan's motion to immediately send the HST Initiative Petition Bill (HST Extenguishment Act) to the Legislature, then he wanted to get more info on the Initiative Vote (Referendum)

If the BC Liberals' are favouring a referendum and pass that option at the Committee, it is crystal clear that they have not learned the lessons portrayed by the HST fiasco and recall of BC Liberal MLA's in Rural BC (like Cariboo-Chilcotin) is a sure thing like the sun rising each morning

I am thinking the people who wanted a general strike, is the best way to go. To expect the BC Liberals, to do the right thing, is an exercise in futility. We knew the standing committee, would be useless. Campbell wasn't going to sell the BC Railroad either. What will it take to convince everyone, the BC Liberal government, isn't even a true government. It's a lying deceiving and corrupt government. This government, should be dissolved. All this crap, Campbell has pulled, is for his buddy Harper.
