Family Day in Quesnel - Saturday, June 12th

The annual tradition of Family Day returns to LeBourdais Park this Saturday, June 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This year marks the eighth annual event, which keeps getting bigger and better.
“During busy and hectic times, it’s nice for families to have a free event they can attend and simply enjoy themselves,” said Quesnel Mayor Mary Sjostrom. “We’ve seen Family Day grow over the years into a multi-cultural celebration of our community’s diversity and zest for life. Thanks to all of the community partners and sponsors who help us ensure this event is worth attending.”

“Family life is important and something we need to embrace more often,” added Coun. Sushil Thapar, who is the chair for the event. “I’m lucky to have a dedicated team who contribute a great deal of effort towards getting the job done. I thank the community for coming out and supporting us every year.”

Early Learning Expo, a group of children’s service providers, will offer face painting, entertainment and games. Family Day also features an array of displays regarding health, emergency services, community safety issues and more.

There’s an impressive entertainment slate as well as free food and refreshments.
Family Day first occurred in 2003 with about 800 people celebrating in Cariboo Field. Last year, an estimated 4,000 people took part in the festivities.
