South Cariboo OCP Review underway

Courtesy of the Cariboo Regional District:

The Cariboo Regional District (CRD) has launched a process to update the Official Community Plan (OCP) for the South Cariboo Area.  The existing Plan was adopted in 1996 and many changes have taken place over the past 20 years. This guiding document will be updated to align community values, aspirations and perspectives for growth within the South Cariboo Area.

Some of the issues the updated OCP will address include economic development, agriculture policy, shoreland management practices, environmental protection and climate change.

The Plan area includes the communities such as 108 Mile Ranch and 93-97 Mile areas Electoral Area G, Gateway/Buffalo Creek, Forest Grove, Ruth Lake and Canim Lake in Electoral Area H and Lone Butte and Horse Lake in Electoral Area L.

The CRD will be hosting open houses in the South Cariboo on the following dates:

·          Thursday, February 11th, 2 – 4:30 p.m. - Forest Grove Community Hall
•       Thursday, February 11th, 6 – 8 p.m. - 108 Mile Community Hall
•       Friday, February 12th, 2 – 4:30 p.m. - Lone Butte Community Hall

These sessions will be a great opportunity to learn about this important project and help make sure your voice is heard,” says CRD Chair Al Richmond. “Community support is critical to the success of an OCP and we want to ensure that residents are provided with opportunities to contribute to this OCP review process.”

Assisting the CRD will be an Advisory Committee of residents from the South Cariboo Area representing a diversity of backgrounds and offering a wealth of experience.
