Doherty enters Federal Conservative nomination race

This afternoon before a small crowd at the Tourism Discovery Centre - Todd Doherty declared his intention to seek the Federal Conservative nomination for the riding of Cariboo-Prince George.

Mr. Doherty touted his credentials as someone who has fought for the communities of Williams Lake, Quesnel, Prince George and Vanderhoof.  He also spoke to the need to take advantage of the various economic opportunities including the need to work with local First Nations proactively as a result of the William Supreme Court of Canada ruling.  Doherty also spoke of knowing TNG Tribal Chair Joe Alphonse and the absolute need to work to build that trust over time...

2) Gerald Caron of Vanderhoof - declared
3) T.J Grewal of Prince George - expected to declared
4) Outgoing PG Mayor Shari Green - rumoured to be thinking about running but no confirmation

Mr. Doherty has also received the endorsement of sitting Cariboo-PG MP Dick Harris

No date has been scheduled for the formal nomination meeting...
