$50,000 to Likely Chamber of Commerce

This past Friday - Cariboo-North MLA (and Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development) Coralee Oakes announced that $50,000 dollars would be given to the Likely Chamber of Commerce to help support local Likely businesses that have been hurt as a result of the Aug 4th Mt Polley incident

View a video announcement below:

A number of people have to be thanked for this great announcement:

1) CRD Chair Al Richmond/CRD Area 'F' Director Joan Sorley - these two heard the message from the community of Likely on what was needed and delivered that to local Cariboo MLA's Coralee Oakes and Donna Barnett & BC Premier Christy Clark

2) Cariboo-North & Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA's Coralee Oakes/Donna Barnett - these two 'hard working rural MLA's" heard the message of the people and the local Cariboo RD Area F Director and delivered on it

3) BC Premier Christy Clark - THANK-YOU Madam Premier for hearing what Rural BC needs and delivering -- whether it's the new Rural Advisory Committee, being chaired by Cariboo-Chilcotin MLA Donna Barnett or the $50,000 dollars to the Likely Chamber of Commerce to assist businesses who were hurt as a result of the Aug 4th Mt Polley incident

I look forward to the continued collaboration between the Cariboo Regional District and the Province of BC as we head hopefully towards the re-start of the Mt Polley Mine in the short term...
