40 days to go...

With 40 days to go until General Voting Day on November 15th and 30 days to go before local voters' begin to vote on Nov 5th (1st Advanced Voting Opportunity) to elect new Mayors/Councillors, Cariboo RD Electoral Area A-L Directors and School Trustees for the 2014-18 Term - some election races are beginning at a measured pace while others have yet to begin in earnest.  The last part of the 2014 Nomination Period resumes this morning and will close at 4pm Friday

As of this writing, the state of the various election races according to the information I have is....

Wells - No information but I expect those who are running for Mayor/Councillor there will be, if they haven't already, put in their nomination papers prior to Friday's 4pm deadline

Quesnel - 5 people (Ron Paull, Sushil Thapar, Shawna Siemens, John Brisco and Ed Coleman) have put in nomination papers for Councillor while Bob Simpson has filed his nomination papers for Mayor.

Those who have put in Quesnel Councillor represent half of the entire Councillor ballot in 2011.  Those left to file include incumbent Quesnel Councillors L-A Roodenburg, Scott Elliot, and Mike Cave

School District #28 (Quesnel) - No information but I expect those who are running for the seven Board of Education Trustee positions will be, if they haven't already, putting in their nomination papers prior to Friday's 4pm deadline

School District #27 (Cariboo-Chilcotin) - Linda Nielsen running in Zone #1 (south end of SD27) while Tanya Guenther (current SD27 Board Chair) is running in Zone 2 (CRD Area 'G' Electoral Area).  Zones 3 to 7 remain unfilled.

Williams Lake - 5 people (Bobbie-Jo Macnair, Sue Lachance, Craig Smith, Marnie Brenner and Wayne Lucier) have filed for Councillor while John Bjornstrom has filed for Mayor.  Those running for Councillor comprise half of the publicly declared candidates which stands at 10.  Those left to file including incumbent WL City Councillors Ivan Bonnell, Sue Zacharias, Laurie Walters and challengers Peter Bowman and Jason Ryll.  The only open question, at this stage, is Will Scott Nelson run? If so - for what office?  He has until Friday at 4pm to make his decision or he'll sit this election out.  Finally - Walt Cobb will file his nomination papers this morning and hold a rally at WL City Hall at 10:45am while fellow Mayoral candidate Surinderpal Rathor confirms that he will file his nomination papers with WL City Hall on Wednesday

100 Mile House - Incumbent Mayor Mitch Campsall and his chief opponent Maureen Pinkney have both filed their nomination papers as have incumbent Councillors Dave Mingo/Spence Henderson as well as Councillor hopeful John McCarvill.  Left to file are incumbent Councillor Ralph Fossum and Bill Hadden as well as Councillor hopeful Len Doucette

Cariboo Regional District -  As of this morning, the information I have is that Area 'A' Director Ted Armstrong, Area 'A' Director hopeful Cory Delves, Area 'D' Director hopeful Steve Forseth, Area 'F' Director Joan Sorley, Area 'G' Director Al Richmond and Area 'L' Director hopeful Brian Coakley have filed nomination papers
